Boston, MA and Nashville, TN August 25, 2017— The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) at MassTech has recognized Qualifacts Systems, Inc. (Qualifacts), and three of our customers in the state, with a grant award to support MeHI’s CBHI CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) Interface Development Grant program.

The award adds support for Qualifacts to continue building interoperability interfaces for Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS)  reporting to the state, enhancing the technological innovation, efficient data gathering, and automated support for better consumer outcomes that Qualifacts has led in Massachusetts.

The goals of  the grant objectives for the development and installation of HL7 interoperability for CBHI CANS include:

  • Reduce hurdles for reporting
  • Increase efficiency for providers
  • Make more clinical time available to focus on child wellness
  • Expedite an estimated 40,000 report submissions annually, which are now manual processes
  • Increase efficiency for twenty percent of monthly pediatric patient data submitted in the Commonwealth

“Qualifacts is honored to be awarded this support to expand interoperability in Massachusetts. We know that making data more liquid for seamless reporting and quality improvement is vital to improving healthcare for the children and adolescents our customers serve each and every day,” said  Todd Charest, Chief Product Officer.  “Three of Qualifacts’ current customers are included in the grant: Youth Opportunities Upheld, Inc., Family Service Association of Fall River, and Behavioral Health Network, Inc.”

The CANS assessment is already available to all Qualifacts customers, as part of CareLogic | IMPACT™, which gives clinicians faster, better, more accurate tools to perform more than 40 assessments. The MeHi grant supports innovation to develop, test, and implement an HL7 interface that will automatically extract data from Qualifacts’ EHR platform, CareLogic®, compile it according to the State’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services’ (EOHHS) CBHI interface specification, and submit it to the Commonwealth’s system.

“The MeHI award builds on the efficiencies in care that CareLogic | IMPACT delivers to providers, by helping them  focus on the people they serve, while reducing the amount of time they spend on data entry,” said Christy Winter, Qualifacts Manager of Clinical Informatics and Outcomes.”CareLogic | IMPACT integrates CANS assessment data into the treatment plan, helping clinicians monitor client progress and make real-time clinical decisions to improve care, while also helping agencies gain visibility into outcomes success.”

Building standard and custom opportunities for integration and interoperability is a core area of Qualifacts technology innovation and leadership. “Qualifacts custom integration, to solve business problems and move our customers forward in the interoperability space, brings processes and tools that help agencies operate efficiently, connect strategically, and make data-driven decisions,” said Angela Ball, Integration Services Manager.
