The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) was signed into law on April 16, 2015 and is designed to reward high performing care providers that prioritize quality and value with greater accountability.
MACRA combines several different initiatives such as the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Value-Based Payment Modifier (VBM), and the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) incentive program to create one unified pay-for-performance program called the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
