CareLogic | IMPACT PRO offers a library of 40-plus assessment instruments. This tablet-based solution returns scores to the EHR in real time, to give clinicians flexibility and mobility, in clinics and in the community.

“Some staff have the consumer fill out the instrument in the lobby, and some make it part of their session,” Lewis said.

Challenge and Opportunity

Highland River Center was challenged to efficiently meet the ever- changing requirements for full documentation to support clean and accurate claims. They wanted a more efficient, easy-to-use solution for assessment instruments that would help them elevate the quality of care while complying with payers and regulators.

Solution

Cheryl Lewis led the CareLogic | IMPACT PRO beta with an eye toward growth. Results are scored and added to the clinical record in real time, to track progress, and support documentation without double entry. The tablet-based solution for assessment instruments is fully integrated with CareLogic EHR.

Adding on CareLogic | IMPACT PRO made the assessment instruments process more efficient for staff serving consumers in clinics and in the community across a wide swath of northwest Georgia:

“You need to get paid for the services you provide so you can keep your doors open. While you need to provide good quality care, you also need to provide the documentation, so your billing can go through,” Lewis said.

Business Outcome and Result

CareLogic | IMPACT PRO enabled Highland River Center consumers to self-report and complete instruments on iPad tablets for immediate scoring and integration into the CareLogic clinical care record. Efficiently and effectively delivering and documenting client care is easier and faster.

“With CareLogic being so time and date sensitive, we were able to be a lot more mindful of how quickly things were taken care of,” Lewis said. “We have a rule now that documentation will be done within 24 hours. We can run reports on that.”

Clinician Buy-in:

“They can see scored answers immediately, to track progress, and to identify new goals or problems for treatment,” Lewis said. “We had 628 completed BASIS-24 assessments in 60 days.”

Consumer Acceptance:

“They’ve had positive responses to the opportunity to complete the assessments themselves,” Lewis said

Consumer Satisfaction:

“When you move to value-based purchasing and proving the quality of your services, payers want to hear from the consumer,” Lewis said. “We’ve been looking for tools that individuals would fill out themselves to give us thee feedback.”

“The Qualifacts team is very quick to respond,” Lewis said.

Lewis attributes the success of the CareLogic | IMPACT PRO beta project and her agency’s initial CareLogic implementation to a combination of product fit and support. Staff accepted the new tools because they were easier to use and more effective than their previous platform. The improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of delivering and documenting client care were clearly visible:

●  Staff completed documentation more quickly.
●  Claims went out faster and cleaner.
●  Metrics for care and for revenue improved.

“The number of assessments that are completed is much higher than the old way of doing it,” Lewis said. “All the 10 clinicians who participated, every one of them had positive things to say. There were no complaints at all. Obviously, if you can get their buy-in on the process, which we’re going to be following through with, that’s a good thing.”
