Link Inc | Challenges
LINK, Inc, has been supporting people living independently in northwest Kansas since 1979, and has been recognized for excellence in aiding people with mental, physical, or emotional impairments to achieve personal goals through increased self-reliance and interdependence. As LINK has grown, it has added programs and services, including Independent Living Skills, Peer Support, Advocacy, Information and Referral, and Deinstitutionalization, and now serves 37 counties in Western Kansas.
When LINK expanded its mission to include programs and services for people living with dual diagnoses of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and a range of disabilities, the organization needed an EHR solution that would grow with them.
“SUD care carries extensive requirements and rules, and we needed to support our new program with an EHR that would enable our clinical staff to efficiently and easily manage treatment documentation, while enabling us to bill efficiently, be reimbursed accurately, and gather, maintain, and submit the appropriate data for audits and compliance,” said Alisha Hammerschmidt, LMSW, LMAC, a LINK Substance Abuse Counselor and Case Manager.
SOLUTION
LINK chose the Credible Behavioral Health EHR platform from Qualifacts to support its growth: “Qualifacts and Credible are well known in Kansas, with a big presence. Our evaluation team chose Credible for its capabilities and for the strong network of Kansas users who work together to create new workflows and configurations as their needs change and their programs grow,” Hammerschmidt said. “We know and respect Kansas peer organizations who use the Credible EHR, and who trust the thought leadership, platform support, and state support that Qualifacts provides, which gave us confidence in our choice.”
ORGANIZATIONAL TRANSFORMATION SUCCESS
Adding a new program and getting it up and running on a new EHR requires leadership and collaboration internally and externally, and LINK and Qualifacts were ready for those challenges. “It went quickly, and it went well, and we had the support we needed during implementation and during training,” Hammerschmidt said. “Today, we are saving time, we have the capability for anyone with the appropriate credentials to access information from anywhere, and our data and our client information are secure.”
Clinical Documentation Success | “We have gained so much efficiency in our documentation,” Hammerschmidt said. “It’s so easy.”
Revenue Cycle Management Success | “Documenting in Credible ties services to billing and reimbursement, which accelerates our payment cycles,” Hammerschmidt said. “We are getting paid more quickly now.”
Auditing and Compliance Success | “The Credible platform is well known in Kansas, and when our auditors come in and walk through our data, they see a system they are familiar with, which helps make everything go smoothly,” Hammerschmidt said.
LINK, Inc. | Living Independently in Northwest Kansas
“LINK has leveraged forms developed in Credible for state Medicaid approval, and they have made great progress very quickly,” said Jeanne Sills, RCM Implementation Specialist for Qualifacts. “The feedback they got from their recent on-site audit was that their processes were clean and accurate.”
Training and Support Success| “It was a pleasure to work with the LINK team, through Implementation, training and support,” said Christine McCollister, Senior Clinical Implementation Specialist for Qualifacts. “The LINK team members were collaborative and committed to the partnership. We look forward to their involvement in our Kansas State User Group, and to their contributions to the peer leadership our Kansas customers provide alongside our staff subject matter experts.”
Ready for Continued Success | Approaching the one-year anniversary of their Credible GoLive, LINK is moving ahead with its planned growth, expanding its mission, and bringing more services to its community. “We’re scaling up,” Hammerschmidt said. “It’s working great.”
